世界中のそれぞれの家に、私の絵を掛けていただき、その絵と時間をともにしてもらえ

たら・・・。そんな想いから、干支色紙は生まれました。

干支という身近な題材であれば、芸術を愛する方はもちろん、普段あまり絵画に触れる

機会のない方にも、自然に受け入れていただけるのではないかと考えたからです。

色紙という形式ではありますが、制作にあたっては本画や額絵と変わらぬ気持ちで、

一枚一枚、心を込めて描いております。

毎年この干支色紙を楽しみにお待ちくださる方々の存在は、私にとって何よりの励みで

あり、制作を続ける上での大きな心の支えとなっています。

今年も多くの方々からお申込みをいただき、作品を描かせていただける有り難さ、

そして皆さまとつながっていられる温かさを、改めて深く感じております。

2026年の干支色紙では、黒馬が、服を象徴する祥雲を両脇に従え、 颯爽と此方に向かって

走る姿を描いております。 干支色紙が、皆様の暮らしの中で、少しでも喜びや安らぎを

感じていただけましたら幸いです。

I have always hoped that my paintings might find their place in homes around the world,and that people might spend time living alongside them.It was from this wish that the Zodiac Shikishi series was born.

By choosing the zodiac as a familiar and approachable subject,I hoped these works could be welcomed not only by those who love art,but also by people who may not often encounter painting in their daily lives.

Although these works are created on shikishi paper,I approach each piece with the same care and dedicationthat I bring to my full-scale paintings and framed works.Every sheet is painted one by one, with sincere attention.

The presence of those who look forward to receiving a new Zodiac Shikishi each yearhas become my greatest encouragementand a deep source of emotional support in my work.

This year as well, I am profoundly gratefulfor the many people who have placed their trust in me through their orders,and for the warmth of the connections that allow meto continue sharing my work with so many.

「十二支」はご存知の通り、子（ね：ねずみ）、丑（うし）、寅（とら）、卯（う：うさぎ）、辰（たつ）、巳（み：へび）、午（うま）、未（ひつじ）、申（さる）、酉（とり）、戌（いぬ）、亥（い：いのしし）という十二種類の動物で年を表す考え方です。

十二支は年だけでなく、時刻や方角を表す際にも用いられてきました。

この十二支がそのまま「干支」を意味するものとして使われることもありますが、干支とは本来、「十干十二支（じっかんじゅうにし）」を略した呼び名で、「十干（じっかん）」と「十二支」を組み合わせたものを指します。

「十干」とは、甲（こう：きのえ）、乙（おつ：きのと）、丙（へい：ひのえ）、丁（てい：ひのと）、戊（ぼ：つちのえ）、己（き：つちのと）、庚（こう：かのえ）、辛（しん：かのと）、壬（じん：みずのえ）、癸（き：みずのと）の総称で、もともとは一から十までを数えるための言葉でした。

2026年は、十二支でいうと「午年（うまどし）」にあたります。そして十干では「丙（ひのえ）」の年となり、干支としては 「丙午（ひのえうま）」 となります。

十二支や十干には、単なる数や記号以上に、それぞれ固有の意味が込められています。

「丙」は、十干の中で第三位にあたり、太陽が高く昇り、万物に光と熱を与える様子を象徴するとされています。「丙」という字には「明るくあらわれる」「勢いよく広がる」といった意味があり、物事が表に出て、活力をもって動き始める段階を示す干といわれています。

一方、「午」は、古来より力強さや行動力、前進を象徴する存在とされてきました。また、「午」という字は、陽の気が最も盛んになる時刻を表すことから、情熱や躍動、物事が勢いよく展開していく様子を意味するといわれています。

この「丙」と「午」が組み合わさった 丙午 には、内に秘めてきた力が外へと現れ、迷いなく前へ進むエネルギーが満ちる年、そして新たな挑戦や転機が訪れる年といった意味が込められていると考えられています。

The Meaning of the Zodiac and Hinoe-Uma (2026)

As many people know, the Twelve Zodiac Animals consist of:Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Boar.These animals have long been used in Japan to represent the years,and they have also been applied to timekeeping and directions.

The term often used as “zodiac,” however, originally refers not only to these twelve animals,but to the Sexagenary Cycle, known as Jikkan-Jūnishi—a system that combines the Ten Heavenly Stems (Jikkan) with the Twelve Earthly Branches.

The Ten Heavenly Stems are:Ki-no-e (甲), Ki-no-to (乙), Hi-no-e (丙), Hi-no-to (丁),Tsuchi-no-e (戊), Tsuchi-no-to (己), Ka-no-e (庚), Ka-no-to (辛),Mizu-no-e (壬), and Mizu-no-to (癸).These stems originally served as a way to count from one to tenand later came to carry symbolic meanings related to natural cycles.

The year 2026 corresponds to the Year of the Horse in the Twelve Zodiac Animals.In terms of the Heavenly Stems, it is the year of Hi-no-e (丙).Together, the combined zodiac for 2026 is Hinoe-Uma (丙午).

Both the Heavenly Stems and the Zodiac Animals hold symbolic meanings beyond simple counting.

“Hi-no-e (丙)”, the third of the ten stems, is associated with the image of the sun rising high,radiating light and warmth.It represents clarity, vitality, and energy coming fully into view—a stage when hidden forces begin to express themselves openly.

The Horse (午) has long symbolized strength, movement, and forward momentum.Traditionally linked to the peak of daytime energy,the Horse represents passion, action, and dynamic progress.

When combined, Hinoe-Uma (丙午) is said to signify a year in whichinner energy emerges outwardly,decisive movement becomes possible,and new challenges or turning points naturally arise.
